Neighbourhood: Central/North End Halifax | Instagram | Website
This is a perfect neighbourhood épicerie that happens to be the #1 charcuterie and cheese supplier for the city (more about this later), complete with rotisserie chickens to take-out. French Owner, Frederic Tandy, also provides a sneaky lunch menu at their back counter, Thurs – Sat, including sandwiches featuring their premium products and house made quiche. Oui.

Dee Dee's Ice Cream
Neighbourhood: Central/North End Halifax | Instagram | Website
This is about burritos, and we’ll get to the ice cream later. Dee Dee’s is the unlikely Halifax favourite for burritos (vegetarian, chicken, and beef) and their chicken comes from their sister restaurant, CHKN CHOP (southern-style rotisserie chicken). A Tex Mex mix that we flock for.

Salvatore's Pizzaiolo Trattoria
Neighbourhood: North End Halifax (Hydrostone) | Instagram | Website
There’s pizza, of course, but there is a meatball hero sandwich that has imprinted on generations of Haligonians. Sal’s offers plenty of great lunch choices, especially because there are personal-size options for their pizzas and sandwiches. Take-out, order for delivery, or sit in their rustic, historic restaurant in the Hydrostone neighbourhood, ranked in the top 10 places to live in Canada in 2011. Flex your Halifax savvy by showing up at your next dinner party with a box of Sal’s freshly stuffed Cannoli.
